The other day I was talking about e-liquids with a friend who has been vaping a lot longer than I have. When I told him that apple was one of my favorite flavors he told me I had to check out a liquid called Gambit by Five Pawns. When I saw the price ($27.50 for 30ml) I was a little bit hesitant but he assured me that these were high quality e-liquids. Based on his recommendation, I ordered a bottle of Gambit (50pg/50vg 12mg nicotine) and to my surprise it was in my mailbox 2 days later. Super fast shipping since they are in California and I am on the East Coast.
GAMBIT is described as "classic, mellow apple pie makes a sweet and savory impression with flaky crust and decadent caramel, lightened by a dollop of French vanilla ice cream and unsweetened whipped cream." After a couple of puffs I could tell they nailed it! I could taste everything they described and in proper proportions. The apple is light but noticable and the unsweetened whipped cream is the perfect finishing touch. The rich and delicious flavor combined with the sophisticated packaging made me instantly feel like I had made a good purchase. Not to mention the priority shipping. I'm not sure if I will vape this all day, every day. Its more like a treat to be enjoyed from time to time like a big slice of apple pie ala mode. Great job Five Pawns!

Ahlusion E-Liquid Review
I the past couple of weeks I have tried some new e-liquid brands and figured its about time to share my thoughts again. Based on some favorable reviews and recommendations I decided to give Ahlusion e-liquids a try. I ordered 3 flavors and since my order was over $25 I also requested a free sample. The flavors I got were Cherry Cola, Apple Berry Splash, and Orange Creamsicle. The sample I requested was W&A Sasaparilla. I ordered 10ml size with a 50pg/50vg mix and 12mg nicotine.
AHLUSION CHERRY COLA is described as "A smooth and sweet Cola with a Cherry twist." That is a pretty accurate description. Mine was a little sweeter than normal since I added sweetner in my order. I enjoy cola e-liquids and this one tastes good straight out of the envelope The flavors were blended well, no need to let em steep. I did get more than a cherry twist though. To me the cherry flavor was a bit too strong but not in a way that ruined the liquid. I just prefer Cola to be the dominant flavor. All in all I was pleased with this e-liquid and went through the bottle in no time.
APPLE BERRY SPLASH is described as "A refreshing, naturally sweet and crisp Strawberry Apple blend." Once again the description is spot on. I love green apple e-liquid but since Ahlusion does not offer one I decided to give this a try. It is sweet and I get equal parts Strawberry and Apple. If you like your vapes sweet and fruity, give this a try. I have already ordered another bottle.
ORANGE CREAMSICLE is described as "A sweet all natural Creamsicle flavor." I don't know if that is an accurate description. After reading a bunch of great reviews I was really excited to give this a try. The orange flavor is very powerful and not very natural tasting. It is an intense orange which overpowers any creamy flavors in this blend. Maybe I am just not a fan of orange vapes because this tasted nothing like a creamsicle to me.
W&A SASPARILLA No flavor description here but you have to assume they are going for A&W Root Beer. This was my sample flavor I requested and they sent a full 10ml bottle. THANK YOU! When I first got it the root beer flavor was very noticeable but as time went on it faded into more of a Cola with a hint of Root Beer. I'm not mad. I love it both ways! This may not satisfy those looking for an intense Root Beer flavor but I find it crisp and enjoyable. One of my current favorite e-liquids.
(for a more traditional root beer flavor see my BWB review)
As mentioned above I have placed a second order with Ahlusion and will post a review/update soon. Ordering from their website is easy, shipping is fairly quick and a full size (10ml) sample for orders over $25 is just plain awesome!

Backwoods Brew - E-Liquid
I was online looking for a good ROOT BEER E-Liquid and kept coming across recommendations for a brand called Backwoods Brew. I decided to check em out and ordered 3 flavors to sample - Root Beer, Cola and Applewood. All 3 were 70pg/30vg (their default mix. no other options available) and i went with 12mg nicotine.
Ordering was easy and the shipping was quick and painless. The packaging is nothing special. The labels look like something they made on their office printer but its whats inside that matters so on with the reviews...
Backwoods Brew Applewood is described as a full flavor tobacco with a slightly sweet and crisp finish. Maybe I got a bad batch because I get none of the above. I get more of a Turkish style sweet tobacco with a side of perfume. I do not get smoked apple or anything even close. I have tried the juice fresh out of the box and also after steeping for a week and for me this flavor does not work. I can only assume my order was off because there are a bunch of great reviews for this flavor on the BWB site.
*UPDATE: After letting this flavor steep for another week or two I have gone back and tried it again and the flavor is MUCH better. The perfume flavor has almost completely gone away and the tobacco and hints of apple flavoring have really developed. I will have to do a post on the subject of "steeping" e-liquids in the near future.
Backwoods Brew Root Beer is described as a delicious and true flavoring with a generous throat hit. That is a pretty accurate description. I like drinking root beer and now I also enjoy vaping BWB root beer flavor. It tastes like a good sip of root beer. Maybe a little on the sweet side similar to a fountain soda that is a little high on the syrup. I thought the flavor was excellent straight out of the box and maybe even got a little better as it aged. It is not something I can vape all day but it is definitely enjoyable and I will purchase again. NOTE: I went with the 12mg nicotine level. I may have to try the 18mg next time because I don't really get the generous throat hit they mention in the description.
Backwoods Brew Cola is described as Crisp and clean taste like the old fountain sodas. Easy to vape. Simple and delicious with extra vapor. This description is pretty accurate. It reminds me of slightly flat Coca Cola. As far as cola liquids go, they pretty much hit this one on the head. Being a fan of Coca Cola in the past, I would consider this flavor crisp and delicious. I don't know what they mean by "extra vapor" though. Seems about the same as the others. Out of the 3 Backwoods flavors I sampled, I would give this one the highest ranking. I have been vaping it daily and will definitely purchase again.

The Vapor Chef - E-liquid
I got my first order of e-liquids from the Vapor Chef in the mail yesterday. Easy online ordering and super fast shipment. I ordered 3 flavors: Some 'Mores, Slartibartfast and Unicorn Poop. They threw in a tester of Deep Thought and a plastic army man.
I ordered these in a 30/70 mix. The high VG content makes the liquid very thick and produces huge clouds of vapor. Out of the box the flavors were not that great but after letting them to sit for a week and shaking the hell out of the bottles I could realize the Chef's vision. Here's my reviews:
Slartibartfast is described as a cherry cavendish tobacco. A complex tobacco, notes of oak and cherry with a slight hint of vanilla. I feel like this is a pretty accurate description. All the mentioned flavor notes are accounted for though I think it could use a bit stronger tobacco flavor. It does have a richness to it that seems typical of the Vapor Chef flavors I have tried but there is really nothing special here for me. I would give it an average rating and doubt I would re-order this flavor.
Unicorn Poop is described as blueberry cupcakes with white chocolate frosting and a raspberry on top! When I first tried this flavor all I got was sweet. Kind of like white cupcake icing with maybe a hint of some kind of berry. After letting the liquid steep for a week or two and shaking the hell out of the bottle I am really noticing the blueberry cupcake flavor and its pretty nice! I have also mixed with a standard tobacco flavor to cut the sweetness and that is a pretty good combo. I would recommend this flavor is you like rich sweet vapor.
Some 'Mores is described as Toasted marshmallow, chocolate and Graham crackers. The description is pretty accurate except I don't really get any chocolate flavor. The toasted marshmallow really stands out. That being said, I really enjoy this flavor. I ordered it on a whim and it actually turns out to be my favorite of the bunch. Great in the morning with coffee or after dinner for a taste of something sweet. If you are into marshmallow you will dig this flavor. A little more chocolate flavoring and this could be one of my all time favorites.
Bonus Flavor: Deep Thought. Described as Sassafras pipe tobacco. This is a very deep flavor. Vanilla, sassafras, deep rich pipe tobacco, a little spice. To me it tasted like pipe tobacco and black licorice. I am not a fan of black licorice so I did not spend much time with this flavor. I do appreciate the free tester though! Thanks chef

WTF am I inhaling?
According to the internets - Inhalation of the propylene glycol vapors appears to present no significant hazard in ordinary applications. However, limited human experience indicates that inhalation of propylene glycol mists could be irritating to some individuals. You can read all the scientific stuff HERE.
Vegetable glycerin is also known as vegetable glycerol. It is a carbohydrate that is usually derived from plant oils. It is used as a sweetener and as an ingredient in a number of cosmetic products. Vegetable glycerin is also used in place of alcohol to extract botanicals. Vegetable glycerin typically produces more vapor production then propylene glycol, but has reduced throat hit. It is also slightly more viscous (thicker) and slightly sweeter then propylene glycol. - See more HERE.
These are mixed with nicotine and flavoring and that makes what we refer to as e-liquid or e-juice. I think someone needs to give this stuff a better name. Any words that start with "e-" rub me the wrong way for some reason.
While doing extensive reasearch on the world wide web I stumbled upon this article which made perfect sense to me -
How E-Cigarette Alarmists Endanger Smokers' Lives, or Why Eli Lake Should Not Switch Back to Marlboros
Hope this helps. I feel like I know a bit more than I did yesterday.
BTW, I just recently ordered 3 new flavors from someone called The Vapor Chef. Thats a pretty bold claim, these juices better be tasty. I will post my opinions in the near future. Peace Out.
